If you need any help with a parts list or anything like that for a new rig, you know where to find me Wink

Here's something to consider assuming you reuse your power supply and your storage

Do you know what power supply you have? They aren't very expensive and it's never a bad idea to invest in a higher quality unit (if you have a no name one).

Normally at this price point I would say AMD GPU, but the miners have had them bought out for awhile.

I personally agree with you pick of the 1600x. It's a good processor with way more uses and flexibility than the 7600k.

Lmk what you think or if there is anything else you need.

Not sure if you needed an os or not.

It will be for gaming mostly. I am in sugar land tx Colbaddad
I already have a 1060 video card. my case is a tower.
BF4 BF1 are the two main games that i need to run. BC 2 would not be an issue.
I will probably get 32g of ram since i already have the video card.
Power supply is 650 watt. Generic brand. lol

Oh shoot I forgot you already had a 1060. That's sweet

Did you want to reuse your old case? Is it a full size ATX?

Reusing your case(assuming it is at) and the 1060 this is what I would do. Lots of room for more drives, OS if you need it, etc. Could even spring for a new mouse or something. Of course you don't have to get a new PSU, but if you can I'd always recommend getting a rebutable one to not only last a long time but also safegaurd the rest of your components

If you plan on literally only gaming, you could go for an Intel. But honestly with a 1060 driving your games you will see not very much difference at all between 7600k and 1600x

i have the i5 7600k and its only 20 dollars more and wayyy better i also have mine stable overclocked at 5ghz. if theyre the same price range id say the intel over amd all the time. i am part of a overclockers discord and they are disappointed at ryzen they been having issues alot. you dont have 800 just for a cpu then i would stick with i5 or ryzen 5 buti can guarantee that the i5 is better. on the memory the new ddr4 doesnt get hot very easily so with the ram speed you can get 2400mhz and still end up getting 3200 speed overclocked easily http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i5-7600K-vs-AMD-Ryzen-5-1600X/3885vs3920

Yeah it just depends on what he wants to do. I wouldn't say it's "wayyyy better" considering they have different goals. Purely gaming yeah Intel is *probably* the better choice, but that still depends on your situation

If he ever wanted to get into content creation or anything of that sort the 1600x would be the way to go.

And hell even for gaming only, with a gtx1060 you wouldn't see any meaningful difference between the two because the 1060 just can't push that many frames.
