It's not uncommon for players of BC:2 to complain of lag, so allow me to help you guys understand a bit of where it's centralized. First, our server is hosted in Chicago, Illinois, USA through a company called NFO. NFO has superior protection against Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, though that doesn't mean if another server on their network is attacked, we won't feel temporary interruption.

To understand if lag is on your end, or the BC:2 server end, you can run a Windows utility called a traceroute. This will show you how data sent from your computer, through your router, on to your neighborhood connection, on to your Internet Service Provider, and eventually on to NFO can be delayed. To get started, and it's a simple/quick process, follow the steps below:

1) Click the Start menu and in the command line at the bottom, type "cmd" and hit Enter.

2) In the black box that pops up, type in "tracert 64.74.97.211" (our main server's IP) and then hit Enter.

3) You will start to get a lot of data appearing in the black area. It should look similar to the image below. In this example, the server IP is "seattle.nuclearfallout.net". Note: that is NOT our server.

The data displayed will start from your desktop and show you all the routes it has to take before finding the game server. Each line tells you how long, in milliseconds (ms), it took to make that connection. It can show you where significant delays may be, which can be used to help diagnose lag problems.

If you need this information copied, say you're getting significant delays on the server and I need it from you to send to NFO, do the following:

4) When it's done, copy the data by right clicking on the title bar and going to "edit > select all" and then "edit > copy"
