Just maybe this will bring more joy to gaming instead of anger when my game freezes, crashes and.........

Nice, looks good.

At that price point I'm still a strong proponent of the RX 480, as it is much cheaper, has more VRAM and Freesync, but the 1060 should serve you very well.

Now you can watch me headshot you with even more FPS Wink

Yeah toms best picks also had the 480 for the price range and for 30 bucks more it says you could of gone 8gb.

Also not sure if you know but in about 2 months the new Vega line is launched which will brings down the price of the older line .

Honestly I think 8GB is kind of pointless for the lower end cards like that, at resolutions where you would start to use that much your framerate would be so terrible you wouldn't even want to play Razz

I am looking forward to some early-mid 2000s era AMD v Intel/nVidia competition though finally

I have been using ATI / AMD products for years and decided to switch.
I had some tax money coming back and had to spend it before my better half pulled the plug on it. Shocked

My R9 270 is on life support.

nice Hugo~ I sport a rx 480 as well but I was looking at the 1060 very heavily. Upgrading from a 960.. i was actually had issues with my nvidia drivers so I decided to go back to team red. Hopefully you don't have this issue (high gamma bug). I believe the rx 480 is a tad faster but it all depends on the game I think. Anyhow I'm kinda new to here glad to meet u and gratz!

the 480 ISNT faster. just look at the release dates. http://gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-RX-480-vs-GeForce-GTX-1060 the 1060 was made a month after the 480 which means the 480 was made to battle the 900 series and maybe the 1000 series but nvidia totally redesigned the cards so theyre faster.

We will just have to see with the new stuff theyre putting out to get a real determination. ive had both companies and i hate amd drivers when comparing to nvidia.

Yeah it isnt but you can get a 480 for about 150 dollars so I wouldn't consider the 0-10 extra frames the 1060 gets you to be worth it. Especially when you get Freesync and better dx12 performance on the rx480.

After doing some more research...you guys are right. Just about everywhere I look, its showing the 1060 pulling ahead by a small margin (passmark, game fps tests on youtube) I remember benchmarking with Futuremark's 3dmark and was able to compare my system to many other 1060's. My rx 480 seemed edge out the 1060 in in most of these test comparisons. I believe they are very similar speeds (once again depending on the game).

Yeah it is entirely dependent on the game. Some games they tie, some the 480 wins and some the 1060 wins. The 1060 does do better on average however. For the price though the 480 cant be beat imo.

Just remember the rx 480 is a high level amd card and the 1060 is a low end card, the 1060 has 6gb where as the 480 has 8. the way i see it is the 1060 is faster the 480 can barely keep up. stick something high end in it like a 1080 and its dust. thats the reason amd is making new cards

That's why I went with a 1080 for my new built. It's not a cheap card, but for future proofing reasons it should let me run most games at high settings for awhile.

I definitely see a performance gain in Dx12 in the new Deus EX over Dx11.

I'll be upgrading to this from i7 4770 2133mhz DDR3 8gb ram to these 3.
I7 7700k 4.2 Ghz[normal speed] 4.5 Ghz[turbo]
16 GB 3200 Mhz ram DDR4
Z270 Killer motherboard with onboard Wifi/Blutooth.
(by end of year)
I have a GTX 970 SC atm so dont think I need graphics just yet but when I do it will probably be a GTX 1070. going to get a new case and ssd first.

http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-7700K-vs-AMD-Ryzen-7-1700X/3647vs3915

Ryzen just came out and theyre more expensive than the new I7 7700k and 6% slower. But ppl have been right all along, that, Intel is better at single core performance and Amd was better at multicore.

I'll be getting the i7 they're both in the same playing field anyways. The ryzen is 400 dollars where as the I7 is only 349. nomore cheap Amd parts guys. Idk but I am not buying Amd anymore especially when theyre same price as Intel/Nvidia.

Still good to see that Amd is now getting PCI-Express 3.0 and DDR4 now.
